Giving up his aspiration after greatness as a military officer, YB Hur had converted to an entrepreneur in 1985 and run into a lot of adversity and hardships. YB Hur's tenacity for success could be noticed by everybody in the domestic and overseas ship building industry who was surprised by his continuous effort to develop cargo hatch packings in 1988 for chemical ships, oil tankers, and other special ships after years of research, which had been given up by other companies due to the limited domestic technology.
With this development, Hankuk Mechanics has contributed a lot to the foreign currency savings of the domestic marine and ship building companies including the three big ship building companies which had used the product by importing it.
Hankuk Mechanics has also developed special seal kits for nuclear power plants and special packings for iron manufacture & chemistry area.

Starting their business every morning by doing physical exercises and shouting a company motto, all employees including managers begin their work at the first and second factory.

If I can be a help in making best products, I can feel pride and find my life worth working in this company in whichever department I work.", said JM Bae who works as a section manager in the general affairs department.
He also spoke boastingly of their family-like company culture in which all employees help each other when in difficult situation.
